Job Summary

We are seeking a Host/Hostess to join the team at our thriving restaurant. In this role, you will welcome guests, lead them to their seats, and inform them of any specials. Your goal is to quickly build rapport with patrons and make them feel welcome. The ideal candidate is friendly, outgoing, and committed to providing an exceptional dining experience. Experience with OpenTable is required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with a smile and inform them of the wait time
• Seat guests at their tables, taking into consideration server availability and guest needs
• Provide guests with menus and inform them of any available specials
• Manage the restaurant’s seating chart and table rotation to ensure efficient use of the dining room.
• Maintain an accurate, up-to-date seating chart, including occupied, available, reserved, and temporarily held tables.
• Monitor table availability in real time and communicate with servers and managers regarding table status.
• Review reservations and organize seating assignments based on party size, reservation times, server sections, and table availability.
• Coordinate the seating of guests to maintain a balanced and efficient distribution of tables among servers.
• Keep track of tables that are being cleaned, reset, or are otherwise unavailable, and update the seating chart accordingly.
• Manage the waiting list and provide guests with accurate estimated wait times.
• Communicate with the service team regarding table readiness, large parties, special occasions, and seating requirements.
• Monitor reservation timing and table turnover while maintaining a positive guest experience.
• Ensure guests are seated promptly and appropriately while respecting reservations and designated dining times.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, providing guests with accurate information regarding reservations, hours, menu options, private events, and restaurant policies.
• Accept and manage reservations over the phone, accurately recording the guest’s name, phone number, party size, date, time, special requests, and any other relevant information.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a host/hostess is required 
• Experience with OpenTable is required
• OpenTable certification is preferred 
• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and carrying trays
• Familiarity with food safety guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
